About the Library

The Central Library of Venerable Uktara Bethany College, Namsai (VUBC) sets the goal of a excellent library by integrating information sources and services accross disciplines in one umbrella by building a sound and comprehensive collection of both print and electronic resources on all branches of knowledge with a infrastructural facilities and to redesign and revamping the system and services in efficient, effective and dynamic ways of tailoring to meet the myriad information needs of students and faculty members of the College pin-pointedly, exhaustively and expeditiously anytime during library hours for promoting academic excellence.

The Library has a collection of more then two thousand books and offers library services through its various sections.

Mission or Purpose

  1. To provides comprehensive resources and support for students and faculties, acting as a world class center for learning and research.
  2. Acts as a hub for academic inquiry by offering guidence and resources.
  3. To provides access to a wide range of books and other resources necessary for the users project.
  4. To support the mission of the College by serving as a center for academic needs across all departments.
  5. To provide the resources and environment necessary for students to achieve their academic potential and for the faculty to conduct research.
  6. To help students and faculties acquire the skills necessary for lifelong learning and to ensure that all the members of the community are proficient information users.
  7. To implement state of the art tools and techniques in library services to support learning, teaching, and research in both physical and virtual spaces.

Reading Rooms

The reading room is a central feature of the VUBC library, designed to provide students with a quiet and conducive environment for study, research, and self-learning. It supports the academic mission of the college and aligns with Rajiv Gandhi University’s standards for affiliated institutions.

The seats are to be used/occupied on the come first served basis.

Capturing/reserving seats for friends/future use is strictly prohibited

The College Library remains open from 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on working days, except on Saturday the Library open from 8:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Fine policies for over due

  1. Rs 10 /- for per book per day will be charged to the user if books is not returned after the due date.
  2. Membership shall be suspended for suspended for repeated delay in returning the books.

 

Lost books policies

  • You are required to report immediately to the Librarian by writing an application.
  • The borrower is obliged to compensate lost items by substituting the material or paying for it.
  • Fines will be calculated, according to the rates of fine, from the date due to the date when the material was reported lost.

Library Rules & Regulations

  1. Only enrolled students, Facilities and Non-Teaching Staffs as registered members are allowed to use the Library.
  2. Readers should observe strict silence inside the Library.
  3. Users are not allowed to carry eatables/drinks inside the Library premises.
  4. Marking, Scratching, damaging, Mutilating, Stealing, Library materials or property will invite disciplinary action against the defaulters.
  5. Readers should not carry books from one section to another and should leave the books on the reading table after consulting.
  6. Readers should not talk or discuss as they may disturb other readers.
  7. Reading hall are meant for individual study and research only.
  8. The Library shall not responsible for any loss or damage of the personal belongings of the users.
  9. Users should not rest or keep their feet on tables, chairs, Shelves.
  10. The Librarian reserves the right to suspend the membership of any member found misbehaving of with the Librarian and Library materials.
  11. The Librarian may recall any book from any member at any time and the member shall return the same immediately.
