National Service Scheme

Introduction / Overview

The NSS Unit of VUBC was established in 2017 in the presence of the College Principal and faculty members. From its inception, the unit embraced the core motto of the National Service Scheme — “Not Me, But You” — with a clear vision to serve communities in and around the college. The unit strives to instill a strong sense of responsibility among its volunteers, helping them integrate meaningfully with society and contribute to community development initiatives.

A key objective of the NSS Unit is to help volunteers realize that community service is not only an act of giving but also an opportunity for holistic personality development.

As of 2025, 720 NSS volunteers have successfully completed their service through VUBC, reflecting a significant number of young individuals dedicated to selfless societal contribution.

Membership and Eligibility

Each year, before enrolling new volunteers, the NSS Programme In-Charge addresses all 1st-semester students, highlighting the purpose and significance of the NSS. Students interested in community service are encouraged to join.

Upon enrollment, volunteers are briefed on the objectives, yearly activities, and expected responsibilities. Tasks are then assigned accordingly.

As of 2025, 42 new volunteers were added to the existing 82, bringing the total membership to 124 volunteers.
